Composite Flooring Systems

ComFlor 80

ComFlor 80 is a new generation of steel composite decking that offers longer spans, minimised concrete volumes, and sets new benchmarks for shallow slab construction efficiencies. The efficiency and spanning capacity of the trapezoidal profile is enhanced by the large curved corner and the use of high strength G500 galvanised steel to give major performance advantages.

ComFlor 210

A long span composite deck that offers unpropped spans to 5.5 metres and propped spans to 9.0 metres with a corresponding reduction in steelwork. When combined with asymmetric beams, the deck can be contained within the beam depth, which produces a "slim floor". ComFlor 210 Product brochure (pdf 0.67 MB)

The benefits of ComFlor Composite Floor Decking

ComFlor 80

Proven construction economies - ComFlor 80 has a wide range of applications, is fast to construct, lightweight, and provides a safe working platform so that the building process can continue without delay.

Unpropped spans of up to 5.2 metres - Design software is available to give unpropped double span options of up to 5.2 metres. Longer deck spans broaden beam spacing and reduce the number of the support beams, resulting in rapid erection and savings on the cost of the supporting steelwork.

Speed - Large areas of deck can be rapidly craned into position and up to 400 sqm laid by one team per day. With minimal mesh reinforcement and pumped concrete, the completed floor can quickly follow.

Reduced slab depth, concrete usage, and weight - The intrinsic efficiency of composite construction and the displacement of concrete by the profile shape, means considerably less concrete is used than in conventional reinforced concrete construction. This results in savings in both the primary structure and foundations.

Working platform - Once laid, the deck acts as a safe working platform so that the building process can continue without delay.

Fire - Extensive testing and fire engineering work by Corus has resulted in fire ratings of up to 3 hours being available with an unprotected soffit.

Acoustic performance - ComFlor 80 acoustic report (pdf 0.08MB). This report is an independent assessment by Hegley Acoustic Consultants

Design software tools - Comdek Software can be downloaded here (This software is also available from Corus NZ on CD) for the design of slabs with up to a 3-hour fire rating to BS 5950 or Eurocodes. The profile has been rigorously tested at Imperial College , London . The Comdek program has been independently produced and verified by the Steel Construction Institute in the United Kingdom .

Structural Integrity - ComFlor 210 is structurally efficient and offers excellent composite action with the concrete.

Long span decks - The deck can be designed to span 5.5 metres unpropped and up to 9.0 metres propped with a corresponding reduction in steelwork.

Shallow floor depth - The deck is contained within the beam depth, which produces a "slim floor". This leads to savings in cladding costs and either helps to reduce the overall building height or enables an extra floor to be added for buildings of 10 story's plus.

Service integration - The shape of ComFlor 210 permits services to be installed between the deck ribs, effectively within the slab depth. This leads to further reductions in the floor zone.

Fire properties - Simple, single bar reinforcement in each trough, combined with anti-crack mesh near the top of the concrete slab, gives the composite slab superb structural strength and fire properties. Up to 2 hours fire rating with unprotected soffit.
